Lake Garda

Excursions to the enchanting natural and historical beauties, safeguarded and protected by the European Union, are a short walk from the Relais Colle San Giorgio: the prominent Rocca, a singular headland covered with a flourishing and uncontaminated vegetation, where tourists can take pleasant walks and enjoy a beautiful view of the lake; the picturesque monastery of the Camaldolese friars, a peaceful place of meditation and silence, located on the San Giorgio hill, that gives the name to the Relais; the nearby hill over the bay of Garda, Monte Luppia, characterized by thousands of ancient engravings, and the romantic peninsula of San Vigilio.

Relax is therefore granted in this authentic paradise: guests can choose among long panoramic walks along the nearby tracks, mountain bike excursions on the adjacent hills, trekking and Nordic walking. Every year in spring, in occasion of the international mountain bike competition “Gran Fondo Città di Garda Paola Pezzo”, mountain bikers come from all over the world to Garda to participate at the racing.
On the lakeshores the two renowned tourist destinations Garda and Bardolino just a few minutes from our structure.

Bardolino, whose notoriety is mainly due to its homonymous wine, welcomes tourists all the year round in occasion of recurring gastronomic events like the Festa del vino e dell’uva, the Palio del Chiaretto and the Festa del Novello. Bardolino also offers a rich, lively night life for the endless choice of night clubs, lounge bars and discos, restaurants and pizzerias and shops.

Garda, the adjacent lake jewel, is situated in a picturesque gulf surrounded by moraine hills. It is a peaceful village of medieval origins. Among its treasures historical buildings like Villa Canossa, Villa degli Albertini and Villa San Vigilio. Ideal place to spend a relaxing sojourn in complete tranquility Garda is worth to be remembered for its recurrent events: the Palio dell’Assunta, a festival of the ancient community of fishermen dedicated to the Assumption in Heaven of the Virgin Maria, and the ancient rowing competition Regata delle Bisse.

Lake Garda is the largest Italian lake and an international touristic place. The favorable setting and the mild Mediterranean climate allow unique experiences in every period of the year: sunbathing on its typical pebbly shores, trekking along pleasant mountain itineraries, Nordic walking, mountain biking as well as cultural excursions to the nearby historical towns of Verona and Venice.

Lake Garda is strictly bound to two famous agricultural products: the east coast is denominated “Riviera degli olivi” for the presence of vast century-old olive groves giving the precious extra virgin olive oil, whose high quality is granted by the official DOP certification (Denomination of Protected Origin). The south eastern shores of the lake are also well-known as the Bardolino wine region for the production of the Bardolino DOC wine exported everywhere in the world.

Entertainment and amusement can be found in the most popular parks of Gardaland and Movieland, in the water parks of CanevaWorld, Parco Acquatico Cavour and Riovalli Acquapark, in the suggestive thermal park Villa dei Cedri and Aquardens, the second largest thermal center in Europe or in the evocative natural park Parco Sigurtà and in the zoo Parco Natura Viva.
